So... I was reading this article

'Batman" Can't Begin to Resuce Film Industry
It occurs to me that I have been to less movies this year and last year as well than I used to. Could be that I'm getting older and I just don't have the time... although I would make time if movie prices were cheaper. Just as this article states... it costs more for my wife and I to go to a movie than it would for us to get the DVD when it comes out. It doesn't help that the movie industry is taking a que from the music industry and sueing the pants off of people who pirate movies. Receintly the fatman pointed people to a blog with a letter to the music industry In this letter this person tells why they stole what they stole. Someone should do the same for the movie industry....

Let's see... there are quite a few remakes out this year along with TV shows turned into movies...
Guess Who - They couldn't even finish the title
The longest Yard
The Honeymooners
Bewitched
War of the Worlds
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Bad News Bears
Dukes of Hazzard
King Kong

That's just to name a few... it's like hollywood has given up on the whole orginal story line and goes for the one that is all to familar. Some would argue the new Batman is just a remake of the orginal story... sort of a re-invention of the same story line we all know and love. Star Wars did the same thing... we all know the story... he's just going to tell it to us now... Why should I reward movie makers when they just poop out crap? I would pay good money to a film I know is an orginal thought. Sure they are all the same 4 or 5 story lines over and over again... but I want to be entertained with a new twist on things. Take Kung Fu Hustle That was pretty much a classic chinese story but it was very entertaining. They took it to another level and people loved it...

I guess what I'm saying... lower movie ticket prices... quit being so greedy for your precious box office sales reciepts and I can guarantee that I'll see more movies... If they lowered ticket prices by at least $3 I would see two movies... right now I'm not seeing any.... so let's see... current ticket price is $9.25 if I go on a Friday night... That means it costs me $18.50 for my wife and I to go... If you dropped the price by $3.00 I would go twice I said... so that's $12.50 x 2 = $25 and I wouldn't mind because I would have seen two movies... otherwise I could just go to the store and buy a movie that was out in theaters less than 6 months ago like White Noise and pay less about the cost of the current price of two tickets and I could have popcorn and be able to pause the movie while I go to the bathroom.... or go back to something I missed... etc.

So right now the movie industry is getting $0 from me because I don't want to pay $18.50 for one movie... but I'm willing to pay $25 for two movies... I'm sure there are more people out there thinking along the same lines... maybe not two movies in one night... but I'm sure they would go more than once a month.... which is about the current rate... so you would be getting more money from me if you only lower the ticket price.... I would even put up with the rehash crap if they would only lower the ticket prices....

New York City is paying $10.75 for movie on Friday night... Seattle $9.50... Austin Tx $8.00 ... Kansas City $8.50 ... Miami $8.50 ...Here in Tucson it's $9.25... WTF??!

Jack and Jill Interlude

As I've stated before... I know several couples that have or in the process of or heading towards a divorce. It bothers me because these people are my friends and somehow their marriage problems become a part of my marriage and I have to explain to my wife that we are not like these couples and that we are different... she always asks "how?" and I have to explain it to her... it's never and easy explanation because our friends are so close to us and after awhile friends start to act a bit a like... anyway... when I get frustrated I like to write stories... Jack and Jill have been my muse as of late... not sure why... they really are just two people a male and a female that I can write about... anway... I made up a story about them based on all the relationships of my friends having problems and also some of my own marriage problems as well...

Jack and Jill were having problems. You see they have been married for several years now and have 2 kids, twin boys in fact. Problem is Jack doesn’t communicate well anymore. Everything was good till that fateful day when he and Jill fell down that hill. Apparently the crown that Jack broke was just the beginning of his problems.

Jill had this strange growth on her neck ever since Jack and Jill met. Jack had fallen in love with her a long time ago and really didn’t see the growth on her neck anymore… He would always tell her that love is blind and that he saw the true Jill underneath… There was a small part of Jack that felt safe that the growth was there. He didn’t have to worry about other men putting the moves on his woman. Jill on the other hand didn’t like it at all so she had been secretly going to a doctor to see what she could do about this growth. The doctor decided that an operation would be in order. However, the operation would take several sessions and the effects would not be noticed right off the bat. So Jill agreed to have the operations done but did not want to tell Jack about them because she wanted to see if Jack would even notice that it was gone. After several operations the growth had gone down to a smaller size and Jill was looking at new clothes that wouldn’t hide as much of the growth as she had done in the past. She also cut her hair so that it was shorter to show off her neck line more.

Jack really didn’t notice the new wardrobe. He sort of acknowledged that fact that it was new and even said how nice the clothes looked on her… but didn’t do much more than that. He didn’t even blink an eye when she came home with the new hair cut.

As the growth started going completely away Jill felt that she should show the world her new body sans growth. She decided that tavern hopping would be the thing to do. She loved to do it before the kids came along and remembered how fun it was. Her friends (most of them single mind you) encouraged her to go to taverns more and more often. Jack went the first few times, but found it rather dull and didn’t enjoy Jill’s friends. After awhile Jack just let Jill go to these taverns without him. Plus someone had to stay home with the kids because Jack’s parents were tired of watching the kid so often.

On occasion Jack would go to a tavern without Jill to do his own thing. The two of them started enjoying the time away from one another. Now whenever Jack and Jill were alone with one another they started fighting more and more often. It could be because Jill was getting more attention at these taverns than she was getting at home. It could be because Jack’s eyes were wandering at the local taverns as well. It could be because of the kids and the fact that Jack and Jill were just not ready to have the twins. No one is quite sure. But the fact of the matter was, it wasn’t a storybook story anymore.

One day Jill was out at the tavern with her single friends. All night long Jill had been flirting with Brutus. Brutus, as you know, was one of the three little pigs. He was the one that built a straw house to save money on the bricks that his brother used. He was, as you know, a pig. Therefore when he went tavern hopping he didn’t care if the woman was wearing a wedding ring or not. If she was giving the signal, then it was all systems go.

Well Brutus was getting the “go” signal from Jill and he moved in for the kill. It was a pretty dark tavern this place and the two of them went off to an even darker corner. Jill’s friends were either talking to other men or were encouraging Jill to go have some fun. You see Jill’s friends knew that Jack and her were not getting along and so they thought this would be good for Jill. She would get her fun in and Jack wouldn’t have to know about it. So Jill and Brutus went over to the corner to talk.

The talk was very much on the surface and Brutus was a pro at talking about nothing. Jill was feeling very alone and vulnerable because she was used to being ashamed of the growth that she had. Something was different about Brutus… he was not like Jack at all. He seemed to be interested in what she said… little did she know that Brutus wasn’t paying attention at all, he just knew what to do in order to get what he wanted from a woman. There was a point in the conversation that Jill noticed that Brutus was making strange eyes at her. She knew that look. It was one that Jack used to give when he wanted something. She hadn’t seen that look in a while from Jack. She liked it.

Brutus was moving in a little closer. Not really listening any more. He put his hand on Jill’s leg. Jill’s first instinct was to pull away and get out of the situation. However, she thought of all the times that Jack used do that to her. Jack never did that to her anymore. So she didn’t back away, she stayed to get that feeling one more time. Brutus was impressed, he could see the ring on her hand and didn’t really think she would go this far. He moved his hand slowly up her leg and at the same time put his other hand on her shoulder and moved towards her neck.

The hair on Jill’s neck stood up on end. This was the thing she had been longing for from Jack for oh so long and Brutus was here right now giving it to her. Brutus began to move his hand from the shoulder to her neck, unbeknownst to him where her growth used to be. Jill became flush with excitement. No one had ever touched her there without pulling away. Brutus’ other hand moved up her leg towards her crotch. Jill didn’t stop him. Brutus went in for the kiss.

It started off slow. A little nibble…Some heavy breathing…more kissing…. A hand movement…. More heavy breathing…. Jill knew it was wrong, but it felt so right… she took at quick look over to her friends. All of them were talking to other men, save for one, Brunhilda, one of Cinderlla’s ugly step sisters. She give her the thumbs up and looked away. Jill took this as the all go sign and gave in.

Brutus moved his hand down and over Jill’s left breast and gave a gentle squeeze. Jill lost more control and let out a small moan. Brutus took this as good thing and moved the hand under the shirt for more action. The other hand moved under the jean skirt. Soon the kissing went from nibbles to tongue touching to full on pleasure sucking. Brutus’ hand moved aside the thong that Jill was wearing. Ten minutes of passion ensued and the crappy cover band interrupted the flow with the instrument check.

Jill pulled away. Brutus was shocked at how far this had gone but was happy it had done so. He invited Jill to go to the bathroom. Jill declined, she had been in that bathroom earlier that night and knew it wasn’t a place to do what he wanted to do. He invited her to his car. She declined as the guilt of the situation began to seep into her mind. She fixed her clothes. Brutus knew the gig was up, but wanted to push the issue to see if he could get some action that night.

Brutus offered to take her to his place. Jill then told him she was married and that she wouldn’t go home with him. Brutus knew this of course, but was now pissed because how far they had gone so far. He grew angry with her and called her a bitch. This was the trigger for Jill as Jack had been calling her that lately. She slapped Brutus across the face, grabbed her purse and made a bee-line for her friends. Brutus followed.

As she got to her friends, she told them that Brutus was a jerk and that he came on too strong. The big bad wolf was hitting on one of Jill’s other friends and heard Jill say this. He stepped up to the pig and told him to back off. The pig had heard of this big bad wolf and how he had treated little red ridding hood. So he backed down. Jill and her friends all left the tavern at that point. Jill couldn’t face Jack just yet… so she called Snow White and talked to her for awhile before going home. Jill swore to Snow that she would never do it again and that she would stay away from taverns for awhile.

When Jill came home, Jack was playing the computer, which he often did. In fact that's all that Jack seemed to be doing these days. Jack has been having problems at work... he doesn't feel like applying himself to anything... he was even offered a promotion at work, but turned it down because he didn't want all the responsiblity of a manager... Jill didn’t want to have a fight so she said “goodnight” and proceeded to walk up the stairs. Jack was too involved in what he was doing to really care so he said “goodnight” in a sarcastic tone and continued to play his game. Later that night Jack went up to the bed room to find Jill curled up in a ball in the corner of the bed. He looked at her and thought that she was sleeping a little funny almost like a baby would… “oh well” he thought and laid down on the side of the bed as to take up as little room as possible so that he didn’t disturb her. He fell instantly asleep.

Jill awoke the next morning to find that Jack had already gotten up and taken care of the kids breakfast and was ready to go to work. Jill felt strange about the whole ordeal, but didn’t know how to approach it. She began to bargain with herself. She began to tell her self that what happened the night before was no big deal. She didn’t cheat on Jack, just played around a bit. No one would be hurt by all of this, that is, if she didn’t tell anyone.

That night Jack and Jill had another fight. This time it ended with the two of them in bed. Something that hadn’t happened in awhile. It wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad… it just was. So Jill thought there would be a turning point in the relationship. That everything would be okay.

The next few days got worse. Jack began to ignore her again. He still wouldn’t acknowledge that Jill was looking better than she had before. Jill wasn’t feeling loved again. Brunhilda called, she wanted to go out drinking and didn’t want to do it alone. Jill remembered that she told her self that she wouldn’t go out again… but Jack was being an ass. Jill told Jack that she wanted to go out… after much arguing about who would take care of the kids the next morning Jack agreed to let her go as long as she made breakfast the next morning. She agreed and left.

This time the girls went to a party. It was frat party that the three men in a tub were throwing. When you arrived you had to pay $5 for two shots of Jose Cuervo. That got you in the first door. It was a house that was nicely furnished. No one was in the house though. You had to go to the kitchen. There at the door was another $5 charge. This time it was two shots of gold shlager. Then you get to the back door to where the party is. Again, another $5 and this time its two shots of triple sec. Finally the party was out back by the pool. Of course by this time Jill was feeling pretty good about herself.

The music was good, they had a DJ playing music for the party and there was plenty of people hanging out in and around the pool. There was the prince who married the black and blue princess that slept on the pea. He should have known that he couldn’t hide anything from her, especially that hooker under the bed. He was looking depressed as usual. Brunhilda walked right over to him and sat down to talk. Jill didn’t really care to talk to the depressed prince so she continued to mingle here and there.

Soon she came upon the frog prince. He hadn’t changed much from his frog ways as he was trying to balance himself squatting on an inflatable raft in the pool. He of course was drunk so he was actually doing better than you’d expect him to but none the less he still was not successful. Jill passed him by because that dreadful Rapunzel was in a bikini, not that you would notice due to the massive hair covering her body, and heading towards the slightly green prince.

Jill walked up to the bar at the back of the yard and ordered another drink, this time it was margarita. She knew she couldn’t handle it but couldn’t take all the people having as much fun as they seemed to be having. She took her drink and walked over to a chair and sat down and began to enjoy the music. She noticed a guy when she walked into the party, he looked a little familiar, but she wasn’t sure why. She had been glancing at him as she walked around the party to hopefully trigger her memory. She again glanced at where he was he was heading right for her!

The man walked up to her with a strange strut. Like he was trying to impress her but it really wasn’t working. As he got closer to her Jill noticed the man’s forearm and saw a tattoo of an intricate swan. Jill knew right away who his was… she sat next to him in math class high school… it was Hansel. He was looking good what with his blonde hair and well built body. He introduced himself to Jill and she blushed. He sat down and they talked for awhile. They talked about their parents and Jill got caught up on how his father was doing after he went to jail for killing Hansel’s step mother. The money they got from selling most of pearls from the witch’s house was starting to run out, but you couldn’t tell from Hansel’s apparel.

The house that the party was being hosted at was actually Hansel and Grettle’s summer home. Hansel has agreed to throw the party because he needed the money, thus the gauntlet that you had to go through to get to the party. The DJ started to play some heavier house music and it was getting to the point where Jill and Hansel couldn’t talk without yelling. So they decided to head into the house.

They went up the stairs and went into Hansel’s room. It was a dark room, with various movie posters on the walls. The thumping from the DJ outside could still be heard, but it was more of a background noise. They sat on the bed and talked a little more about what they had been doing for the last couple of years. Jill left out the fact that she was married to Jack and quickly changed the subject to Hansel whenever the conversation was heading in that direction.

Soon there was an awkward pause in the conversation. Hansel didn’t really know what to do so he moved in for the kiss. Jill didn’t stop him. It could have been all the alcohol… it could have been Jack’s fault for being an ass… it could have been because she didn’t get caught the last time… it really didn’t matter why… she was going to let Hansel do anything he wanted to her because all she wanted to feel something, anything just for a few moments. This time it went much farther that it did in the tavern. Hansel had tried his lost in the woods move on Jill and was surprised to find that it worked on her… he had hit a home run. Jill passed out shortly there after.

It was about 4:00AM when Jill woke up and found herself lying on the couch downstairs. She wasn’t sure how she got out Hansel’s room but she was grateful she didn’t have to face him. She headed out the door to where her car was and drove home in a hung over daze. When she got home it was almost time to make breakfast for Jack and kids so she went right to the shower to wash the stink of her. Jack was still asleep in bed when she passed him. He moved slightly when she entered the room but didn’t wake up. After the shower she then went into the kitchen to make breakfast.

Jack was a bit pissed when he got up and came into the kitchen because she never came into bed that night… but when he saw the bacon and eggs he let it go. The kids came in and breakfast was fairly normal. Jill excused herself saying that she had a headache. Jack didn’t think too much of it but was pissed all the same because she was supposed to help him watch the kids that morning. They argued a bit and it ended with Jill just leaving the room and going to bed. Jack did his best to make sure that the kids made as much noise as possible.

The weekend passed without much more problems. Jack mostly kept to himself and played on the computer after the kids went to bed each night. The week went on much as it did before with some bickering here and there and no real communication between Jack and Jill… just fighting… however there was no make-up sex this time. Jack went out a few times to a local tavern to hang out and do some flirting of his own… he never acted on it mind you… despite the fact that his buddy “little” John kept telling him to do otherwise.

This went on in much the same way for a couple of months. All that Jack and Jill would do when they were alone was fight with one another. Jack was tired of Jill’s constant talk of how she looked different and he never noticed. Jill was tired of Jack’s lack of interest in her… the two of them longed for when they used to be happy to just go up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Now it’s all about the twins and bills and job satisfaction and personal looks….

One day Jill took the kids and moved out. She had told Jack that it was a trial separation… that they need time apart. To Jack it didn’t seem that way…. Why would she take all her stuff out of the house if it was just a “trial”… seemed more permanent… Jack wasn’t sure if he was happy about all of this. He wanted to see the twins… but he couldn’t stand living with Jill anymore… there was something different about her… he couldn’t figure out why… They just sort of grew apart…. Neither one seemed to hold all the blame as to why she left… both of them needed to work on several things… was Jack willing to do so? Was Jill willing to fess up to what she did in the past and would Jack ever forgive her for such a thing? Is it better for Jill to never tell Jack? If for example they did get back together… would it hurt more or less for him to know? Would the guilt of the past keep Jill from ever fully being complete with Jack again? Is her past the thing keeping them apart now? If Jack knew of her infidelity would he be able to get past it because he knew the causes? Will Jack or Jill ever feel complete in a new relationship if it comes to it?

Only time will tell… will this be a storybook ending?

My sister-in-law wore a helmet

So my wife has a brother(D) and sister(AM), and they were here for a visit not to long ago. When they all got to talking it came up that AM pretty much doesn't remember any of her childhood. Because of this fact D thought it would be cool to convince her that she wore a helmet when she was kid. So the running joke is now that AM wore a helmet when she was a kid.

Yesterday afternoon my wife and I were watching TV when one of those stupid "Incredible Edible Egg" commercials came on. My wife then tells me a story about AM when she was about 5 or so and having seen such a commercial goes into the kitchen and gets an egg. She then walks over to my wife and says "The Incredible Edible Egg" and then smashes the egg on her head. To which we laughed about it and I said "Did she crack it on the helmet she wore?". To which my wife almost lost bladder control and then called her sister. Her sister called me an ass, but insisted that my wife tell her soon to be husband that story. So my wife tells the story of AM and the egg being cracked on her head. His response, without telling him my response first, was "Is that why she had to wear the helmet?" To which my wife again almost lost bladder control.

Now if only I could convince D to buy AM a helmet for her wedding present....
