Jack and Jill Interlude (Jill's lament)

Jack is alone in the apt that he, the twins, and Jill used to occupy. Since Jill is no longer helping with the rent Jack needed someone to move in with him. Jack Sprat(JS) and his wife were having issues since she would not eat any more lean. JS’s lean was getting “lonely” so they split up and JS moved in with Jack.

Raggedy Andy went over to Jack’s house to see how he was doing since the break up. In typical male fashion however, they really didn’t talk about relationships… the talk revolved around their computers as usual since that was the only real “safe” topic these days. Jack was putting the twins to bed as Raggedy Andy was coming into the apt. After the kids were safely a sleep they checked out the new “Relative Dude” movie. JS wasn’t there and so Raggedy Andy asked where he was. Apparently JS’s buggy had broken spoke on the wheel and therefore needed to be fixed. However it was clear JS was also doing other things since the buggysmith likes to go home before sunset. Raggedy Andy figured he was at the local pub.

Meanwhile back at the pub…

Jill has not been the same since Little Jack broke up with her. She’s not in the right frame of mind anymore and keeps looking for something to fill the void that has been there for years and is now feeling a bit bigger. Since Jack had the kids and Jill didn’t want to go home to the evil mother she did what anyone in her shoes would do… She went to drown her sorrows at the local pub. The place was dead.. it was two for Tuesday but it still didn’t draw much of a crowd. There was a few people playing pool and when one of the them bent over to pick up a pool cue from the floor Jill’s heart did a strange flutter. It was something that Jill needed at that moment, to feel something, anything.

The man stood up and turned around to make sure that the chalk hadn’t fallen on the floor as well. Jill saw his face and she immediately turned her head, but it was too late. JS had seen her and called her over. There was nothing she could do, so she went over there. It could have been the two rum and cokes she had already had or it could have been the cologne but JS looked…. different somehow.

The night progressed slowly. JS and Jill played some pool and drank a bit more. Jill would wag her ass in the air when she went for some of her shots. JS was showing off by playing behind his back and trying to do various trick shots. Cheesy lines came out of JS’s mouth as well. “8 ball, corner pocket” <> The songs on the Jukebox were slowly turning country as there was a group of wannabe cowboys hanging out. Jill and JS went outside to get away from the crappy music and to clear the air a bit, at least that was what Jill was thinking. JS on the other hand wanted to go outside because he worked at the pub on the weekends being a bouncer and didn’t want people who worked there to talk if things were going the way he had hoped they were going.

Out in the parking lot Jill and JS talked. She sort of asked how Jack was holding up, although she really didn’t care. JS quickly changed the subject to Jill’s recent job loss. Jill quickly changed the subject to television. Both of them knew the conversation was just a front and neither one of them wanted to make the first move. Jill wanted to smoke another cigarette so she asked JS if she could get a light. JS walked over to his car as Jill followed and opened it up and pulled out a lighter and lit it for her. JS then turned and sat in his front seat with his legs still hanging out of his car. Jill pulled a drag from her cigarette and leaned on the open car door.

“So I hear you took a trip to Gomorra” said JS. Jill didn’t want to talk about Gomorra, it was fun but very painful still. Every time she thought of Little Jack she got upset because he called shortly after that trip and said that his obligations to the Order were causing him more stress than he wanted and he wanted to end the long distance relationship. Jill still can’t believe that was the answer. She had to have done something wrong in Gomorra. Maybe it was the fact that she hadn’t lost enough weight… or maybe he didn’t like her in person… there had to be something more. But JS was here… and now… and there was something different about him.

The talk was always on the surface. Jill was getting a little tired and so she crouched down. JS’s crotch was now at eye level and she saw the bulge. She giggled and JS looked at her funny and realized what she was laughing at. “What?!? Ahh come on now I’m in the presence of a beautiful woman, how could it not?” JS knew exactly how push Jill’s buttons, both good and bad. He had been friends with Jack and Jill for awhile now so he had learned a few things here and there. “You want to touch it?” Jill was shocked and slightly intrigued by the thought of someone actually paying attention to her. The thought had already run through her head to do just that. So she did.

Jill got into her car and drove quickly away. What the hell just happened?!? She thought to herself. She called the only person who seemed to listen to her and not want to do things to her that all the Jacks in her life had done to her… Raggedy Anne.

Raggedy Andy picked up the phone and handed it Raggedy Anne after he found out who it was. Raggedy Andy rolled over and tried to sleep as Raggedy Anne went out into the living room to talk. They talked for about an hour. Jill wasn’t sure if she felt better or not. Anne kept trying to steer Jill into just being by herself. Jill had never really been alone before and all these guys who have been paying attention to her made her feel special. Jack hadn’t paid attention to her for years now… why would she want to go back to feeling alone? Anne was talking some sense… Jill just couldn’t see how to do it. She was jobless and the twins were demanding more and more of her time. How would she go on? She has done so many things in the last year that she regrets… how would she reconcile those things?
